The 2012 Nissan Sentra is a compact sedan that appeals to shopers looking for a practical, affordable, economical small sedan. Competitors of this five-seat sedan include Kia Forte, Honda Fit, Mazda3, Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra. The current-generation Nissan Sentra debuted in 2007, making the 2012 Sentra model one of the oldest small sedans available this year in terms of design.
The 2012 Nissan Sentra is offered in six different trim levels, including four mainstream models based on a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (2.0, 2.0S, 2.0SR and 2.0SL) and two high-performance variants powered by a 2.5-liter engine (SE-R and SE-R SpecV).
The entry-level 2012 Nissan Sentra 2.0 starts with 15-inch steel wheels, 60/40-split-folding rear seats, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, power windows and locks and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player and auxiliary audio jack. The 2012 Nissan Sentra 2.0 S adds 16-inch steel wheels, cruise control, remote keyless entry, a height-adjustable driver seat, power mirrors and a six-speaker CD/MP3 audio system with an iPod interface.
The 2.0 SR model adds styling cues from its sportier siblings including distinctive front and rear fascias, foglamps, 16-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. The 2012 Sentra 2.0 SL adds to SR a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless/ignition entry, Bluetooth and an upgraded stereo system. The 2012 Sentra SE-R trim level is equipped similaly to the 2.0 SR but adds 17-inch alloy wheels, performance-oriented suspension tuning and cloth sport seats.

Enhancements for 2012 include a new Technology Package, which is offered with the Sentra 2.0S. In addition, three packages (disponible from 2011 Sentra 2.0 SR) continue into 2012: the Moonroof Package, Convenience Package and Special Edition Package. The Special Edition Package combines all of the features of the Moonroof Package, Technology Package and Convenience Package at a substantial savings over what those package would cost individually. Nine exterior colors are available for 2012 Nissan Sentra: Metallic Blue, Blue Onyx, Espresso Black, Red Alert, Brilliant Silver, Magnetic Gray, Super Black, Red Brick and Aspen White.
All 2012 Nissan Sentra ”2.0”  models are powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine that generates 140 hp at 5.100 rpm and 147 lb-ft of torque at 4.800 rpm. The fuel economy for 2012 Nissan Sentra 2.0 models is: 24 mpg city/ 31 mpg highway for manual transmission and 27/34 mpg for CVT.
Following Nissan’s longstanding formula of delivering serious performance in affordably priced sedans, the 2012 Nissan Sentra SE-R and Sentra SE-R SpecV are ideal vehicles for performance buyers who want aftermarket-style appearance and performance features straight from the factory. Built on a foundation of the roomy, comfortable and versatile Sentra sedan, they are also vehicles that offer a great deal of practicality. Both models are again equipped with a range of performance-oriented equipment and features (versus non-SE-R Sentra models), including unique exterior and interior appearance modifications.
The 2012 Nissan Sentra SE-R and SE-R SpecV are powered by a 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine that produces 177 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque and 200 hp and 180 lb-ft, respectively.
