BMW X6 2012 New Car Model

The 2012 BMW X6 is a tallish fastback SUV that the BMW company calls a Sport Activity Coupe. With seating for four, it is basically a midsize SUV with four doors, extroverted styling and a choice of three powerful engines. The 2011 BMW X6 competes with Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes M-class and Infiniti Fx.
The 2011 BMW X6 is offered in three trim levels: X6 xDrive 35i (starting at $58.900 MSRP), X6 xDrive 50i (starting at $ 69.500 MSRP) and ActiveHybrid X6 (starting at $88.900 MSRP). The high-performance X6M (starting at $ 89.500 MSRP) is considered independently model. The term “xDrive” refers to its standard all-wheel-drive system. A new eight-speed automatic transmission is standard on the 2012 xDrive models and replaces old six-speed automatic. The ActiveHybrid X6 uses its own seven-speed gearbox with sport and steptronic manual shift modes including steering-wheel paddle shifters.

Standard equipment on the 2012 BMW X6 xDrive 35i includes 19-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors, a power tailgate, a sunroof, automatic and adaptive bi-xenon headlights, foglights, automatic wipers, cruise control, 10-way power front seats, driver memory function, leather upholstery, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, the iDrive electronic interface and a 10-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary audio jack and HD radio. The 2011 xDrive 50i adds 14-way multicontour front seats, BMW Assist emergency telematics, Bluetooth and a navigation system with voice control and real-time traffic.
The optional Premium Sound package adds a 16-speaker surround system with an iPod/ USB adapter and a six-CD/DVD changer. The Cold Weather package adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and retractable headlights washers. The Rear Climate package adds four-zone climate control, tinted glass and manual rear side window shades.

The 2012 BMW X6 xDrive 35i is powered by a 3.0-liter dual overhead cam (DOHC) 24 valve in line 6-cylinder  engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, valvetronic, piezo direct fuel-injection and Double-VANOS steplessly variable valve timing that produces 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. EPA fuel economy estimated for 2011 BMW X6 xDrive 35i is 23 mpg highway/ 17 mpg city.
The 2012 BMW X6 xDrive 50i is powered by a 4.4-liter, 32-valve V-8 engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, piezo direct fuel injection, 4 overhead camshafts and Double-VANOS steplessly variable valve timing that produces 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is estimated at 14 mpg city/ 20 mpg highway.
The ActiveHybrid X6 2012 is powered by a 4.4-liter, V8, 480 hp engine and 2-mode active transmission with an electrical continuously variable mode (ECVT) optimized for low and high speeds and a fixed transmission ratio.
Standard safety features on the 2012 BMW X6 include antilock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, hill descent control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. BMW Assist emergency telematics is standard on 50i and optional on 35i.
