Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is the sixth largest automaker in Japan and the seventeenth largest in the world by global vehicle production. It is a part of the Mitsubishi keiretsu, formerly the biggest industrial group in Japan, and was formed in 1970 from the automotive division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The 2012Mitsubishi Lancer is available in four trims: DE, ES, GTS and Ralliart. The base DE trim starts at $15.195 MSRP. The Ralliart, wich hase more horsepower and all-wheel drive, begins at $27.695 MSRP. The Lancer Sportback, a five-door hatchback is available in ES, GTS ant Ralliart trims and starts at $16.995. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, a high-performance vehicle, is considered a separately model.With aggressive, muscular sheetmetal that closely mimics that of the head-turning design of the one-of-a-kind ultra-high-performance Lancer Evolution Sport Sedan, the new 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer is unquestionably one of the most stylish 4-doors available in its price segment.

Several key changes take place across the Lancer model lineup for the 2012 model year. The Lancer DE and ES models receive a new advanced fuel-saving technology in the form of new electric assist power steering. The performance-oriented Lancer GTS and Ralliart edition now boast a convenient USB port for plugging in a memory stick or easy iPod acces, plus dynamic automotive duo gain Mitsubishi’s remarkable FUSE Hands Free Link System that allows for hands-free acces to Bluetooth-enabled cell phones and iPod or a USB drive with the use of simple voice commands.
For the DE and ES trims level of Mitsubishi Lancer 2012 model, the disponible engine is an 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve engine with MIVEC ( Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control system), aluminum block and cylinder heads. This engine produces 148 horsepower (143 hp for LEV – Low Emission Vehicle- sold in California and other low-emission states) at 6000 rpm and 146 (143-California) lb.-ft. of torque at 4200 rpm. Fuel mileage estimated is 24 mpg city/33 mpg highway for this engine with 5-speed manual transmission.

The engine of GTS trims is an 2.4 liter MIVEC DOHC 16-valve that produce 168 hp (161-California) @ 6000rpm and 167 lb.-ft. of torque at 4100 rpm. Mileage estimated is 32 mpg city/ 31 mpg highway for 5-speed manual transmission and 23/30 for automatic transmission.
The engine of 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart model is an 2.0 liter MIVEC Turbo, DOHC-16 valve. This top engine produces 237 hp @ 6000 rpm and 253 lb.-ft. of torque.
Every new 2012 Lancer includes these standard features: auto-off halogen head lamps, power window, power door locks and side view mirrors, 140-watt CD/MP3 audio system with DSP control, seven-airbag safety system, active stability control, anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). The ES trim includes all standard features plus chrome grille surround and covered front cup holders. The GTS trims includes standard features plus color LCD multi-information display, fast-key electronic keyless entry and starting system and GTS-tuned suspension with front strut tower bar.
